The featured images were taken by me yesterday. There is something quite artsy and therapeutic about capturing photos.

My love for photography started several years ago. I had a close friend who had a look and liked to be in front of the camera. We would go to different places and I would photograph her. Some of the beach shots I took of her landed on the Maxim Magazine website for one of their features The Girl Next Door. I guess I could technically say I am a published photographer, but I have no proof so we’ll just not say that.

I watched a documentary on Netflix the other day called Finding Vivian Maier. She was a street photographer in the 50’s and 60’s, but her art wasn’t discovered until after her passing. She never printed her work. Instead it was sold in auction – over 100,000 negatives that were preserved well enough to scan. There’s a quality in her work that speaks to my soul. Her pictures are phenomenal, tragic, and captivating. I would show one, but I don’t want to infringe on copyright so I will just leave the website they created for her:

I hope to find my own with photography and I hope to have the confidence to always share it.
